BS 5839-6:2019+A1:2020 supersedes BS 5839-6:2019, which is withdrawn. Some of the principal changes are:Â
- New recommendation that communal fire alarm systems should not normally be installed in purpose-built blocks of flatsÂ
- Removal of Grade B and Grade EÂ
- Updating of guidance to consider the publication of BS 5839-1:2017 and other standards published since the last full revision of BS 58396Â
- Recommendations have been amended with new text on warning it should not be assumed that children will be woken by fire alarm tonesÂ
- New table on testing and servicing by gradeÂ
